The Big Push 2023

The Active Pregnancy Foundation reached out to Move Consulting for support in the development of a strategic focus document aiming to highlight the priorities for action from the charity - their ‘Big Push 2023’.

Chief Executive of the charity, Sally Kettle said, 

“As a registered charity, The Active Pregnancy Foundation is dedicated to supporting and empowering women to engage with physical activity during preconception, pregnancy and the postnatal period. We were set up during lockdown in 2020 and continue to steadily grow, increasing our influence and audience. Our team had heard about Move Consulting through our network and there had been some great reviews. We particularly wanted to work with them as they knew the sector so well and could support us in thinking critically about our strategic priorities, as well as helping us to recognise and celebrate our successes as we shaped our Big Push for 2023.”

OUR APPROACH

This enjoyable project was essentially all about listening. The team at the Active Pregnancy Foundation are hugely passionate about their cause, and expert in their area of work. We were able to add value to this project by helping to draw out this passion and use our own experience to challenge the senior leadership team to think more critically about their ideas, helping to refine them further.  

Looking back to focus forwards.

The primary step for this project was to understand the background and wider context to this work. This is an essential step to consider when creating future facing documents. To do this we reviewed previous documentation and publications from the charity to understand more about their history and prior key messages.

This process allowed us to understand the foundations we were building upon, identifying key language and narratives, as well as areas for further emphasis in shaping messaging for the resulting publication.

Listening to what matters to them.

The team at Move then engaged with the senior leadership team of the Charity, firstly by providing a series of key questions to gain more clarity about what they felt successes could look like. This was followed by more in-depth constructive conversations to understand what was important to them, as well as helping them to make considerations in mind of the wider landscape across the sector, highlighting potential synergies with other key organisations. 

This process helped to identify simple and clear messages about the priorities from the Active Pregnancy Foundation, the actions they plan to take and how others can engage to support their cause. 

Making the information connect.

Using the insights and understanding gained from the review and discussions with the Active Pregnancy Foundation, next we co-developed a range of digital assets to support them in getting their message out in an easy-to-understand and engaging format.

This work included creating a design theme for the Big Push 2023 and drawing together the key information from the conversations held with the team to form a five-page infographic document providing information relating to the context, the challenge and key actions from the charity.
