We believe everyone has the capacity to live an active life. For many people, the challenge is finding the right support to build the skills and confidence they need to achieve their active independence.
That is why we help organisations create better connected systems, services and pathways, so more people can find a place to start and build activity into their lives in ways that work for them.
As experts in this field, Move Consulting has led the development of regional and national pathways, as well as nationally recognised guidance to support the sector in shaping physical activity pathways for the future.
Why this matters
One in four adults in England live with two or more long-term health conditions, and this is expected to rise as our population ages. By 2035, around two-thirds of people aged 65 and over are projected to be living with multiple long-term conditions.
Reducing physical inactivity needs to be a major population health priority. Supporting people to move more and reduce sedentary time can help prevent long-term conditions, support the management of many physical and mental health conditions, and reduce pressure on health and care services.
To improve health outcomes, we need to recognise and make better use of the full range of assets available across communities, services and systems.
We believe physical activity should be developed as a core part of health, care and community services, both nationally and at place. Physical activity has an essential role in prevention, early intervention, self-management and reducing the risk of deterioration.
Yet, despite its potential, physical activity remains underused in connecting with health and care systems. This is where we can help.

Physical activity pathways are a key component to shaping better systems, connecting services and utilising available assets.
