Our belief

We believe everyone has the capacity to live an active life. For many people, the challenge is finding the right support to build the skills and confidence they need to achieve their active independence.

That is why we help organisations create better connected systems, services and pathways, so more people can find a place to start and build activity into their lives in ways that work for them.

As experts in this field, Move Consulting has led the development of regional and national pathways, as well as nationally recognised guidance to support the sector in shaping physical activity pathways for the future.

Why this matters

An estimated one in four UK adults live with two or more long-term health conditions. This is expected to increase as the population ages, with around two-thirds of people aged 65 and over projected to be living with multiple conditions by 2035.

Reducing physical inactivity needs to be a major population health priority. Supporting people to move more and reduce sedentary time can help prevent long-term conditions, support the management of many physical and mental health conditions, and reduce pressure on health and care services.

To improve health outcomes, we need to recognise and make better use of the full range of assets available across communities, services and systems.

Creating physical activity pathways will unlock the untapped potential within communities and empower people to improve, manage and maintain their health.

Our solution

We believe physical activity should be developed as a core part of health, care and community services. Physical activity has an essential role in prevention, early intervention, self-management and reducing the risk of deterioration.

Yet, despite its potential, physical activity remains underused in supporting the health of the nation. This is where physical activity pathways play a vital role.

Physical activity pathways

Physical activity pathways are a key component to shaping better systems, connecting services and utilising available assets.
