Project Case Study - EFL in the Community

Healthy Weight & Lifestyle Programme Development

EFL in the Community commissioned Move Consulting to support the redevelopment of their Tier 2 weight management offer into a more holistic lifestyle and behaviour change programme that could be delivered more accessibly across its network of 75 Club charities.

Summary

  • Client: EFL in the Community
  • Project: FIT FANS Programme Redevelopment
  • Delivered by: Move Consulting
  • Focus: Healthy lifestyles, behaviour change, programme development and learning design

Context

EFL in the Community commissioned Move Consulting to support the redevelopment of FIT FANS. The work was responding to a need to evolve the existing Tier 2 weight management programme into a broader lifestyle and behaviour change offer that could be delivered more accessibly and diversely across its network of 75 Club charities.

The existing programme already had a strong foundation, including an evidence base and established delivery across the football community network. However, EFL in the Community wanted to retain these strengths while making the programme more user-friendly, culturally sensitive and practical for local delivery.

Move Consulting was chosen because of our expertise in physical activity, behaviour change and programme development, alongside our understanding of the football community sector and the practical realities of supporting delivery across a national network.

What we did

Move Consulting supported EFL in the Community through a structured review, co-development and content development process. This included reviewing existing programme materials, exploring the evidence base, identifying the strengths of the current programme and shaping a refreshed framework for delivery.

The project focused on developing clear programme messaging, embedding behaviour change principles and creating content that could support consistent delivery while still allowing local Club charities to adapt the programme to their communities. This included work on programme frameworks, participant resources, eLearning content and orientation materials for staff.

The work helped EFL in the Community move from a traditional weight management programme towards a more holistic lifestyle offer, with a stronger focus on physical activity, healthy eating, motivation, confidence, goal setting and long-term behaviour change.

"Move Consulting's work transformed our lifestyle programme, creating a framework of      messaging, behaviour change principles and really supported us to implement a 'national framework' at a local level.

They considered strengths of our previous programme and the existing evidence base to ensure this wasn't lost; they authored a whole new programme for us, making existing content more user friendly and ensure it was all culturally sensitive - two key issues we had with the previous programme.”

Abbi Colclough, Health Specialist, EFL in the Community
